Before the lesson
Sketch an imaginary family with three generations and point to the person answering the clue.
- Model Your brother's son by tracing the relationship from that person's place in the diagram.
- Have pairs solve the grandparent and grandchild clues with arrows or a small sketch as needed.
- Check the longer spellings, then ask each pair to invent a new clue for a word in the grid.
Support and extension
Use invented families for the follow-up so everyone can practise without sharing personal information.
