Before the lesson
Review base verbs and subject agreement. Keep answers separate and contrast She works, Does she work? and She doesn't work.
- Complete Part 1, including questions beginning with a question word.
- Check which subject controls do or does, then complete the ten negative gaps in Part 2.
- Read selected questions and negatives aloud. Optionally ask a partner a completed question and add a true negative statement.
Support and extension
For support, mark auxiliary, subject and base verb in different colours. Does and doesn't carry the agreement, so the following verb stays in its base form. Pair questions are an optional extension, not an additional printed task. Judge new answers by grammar and meaning rather than the key.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
