Before the lesson
Review -s, -es, consonant-plus-y and irregular forms such as men, women and children. Keep the key separate. Use one object and several objects to make number clues concrete.
- Complete Part 1, checking the plural spelling rather than simply adding -s to every noun.
- Complete Part 2 using quantity words, demonstratives and is / are as clues. Note that My children are… is plural even without a number.
- Check the teacher page and read selected complete sentences aloud. As an optional extension, change a quantity and adjust the noun and verb.
Support and extension
For support, sort the first ten nouns by plural pattern. For an extension, write a short classroom inventory with varied nouns. People is the usual plural for this context; avoid marking a formal-context alternative as a spelling error without considering meaning. The sheet tests noun forms, not personal information, and no additional writing task is included in the PDF.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
