Before the lesson
Review singular, plural and uncountable nouns. Keep answers separate and model Is there…? alongside Are there…?.
- Complete the first ten gaps, matching the form to the noun and sentence type.
- Check the answers, noticing where not is already printed after a gap.
- Complete Part 2 and read the short answers and descriptions aloud. Optionally describe an imagined room using the same patterns.
Support and extension
For support, label nouns singular, plural or uncountable before choosing a form. Use Is there any milk? rather than Are there. Do not add not twice. Accept contractions when they fit the gap, but keep affirmative short answers full: Yes, there is.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
