Before the lesson
Prepare the single A1 page and a simple imaginary street sketch if useful. Answers depend on the learner or chosen setting, not a fixed key.
- Demonstrate left, right, straight on and over there. Compare entering a bus with leaving it.
- Ask the eight partner questions using a fictional starting point or familiar public place. Encourage short sentences about stops and walking destinations.
- Give a partner a brief route on the sketch, reusing turn left, turn right and go straight on. Check directions through pointing.
Support and extension
Support with arrows and transport pictures. Extend with a two-stage route; learners do not need to reveal their home address or exact journey.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
