Before the lesson
Print the question page and decide whether to show models before or after a first attempt. Review older / younger, years apart and get along with. Allow an invented family, a different important person or skipped questions; the prompts assume family circumstances that may not fit everyone.
- Model a complete response to the brothers-and-sisters question, including a suitable negative answer. Rehearse a few responses orally.
- Write sentences for selected or all questions. Check the difference between current facts and the past question about strict parents.
- Use page 2 to compare sentence patterns, then revise. Optional pair sharing should use only details learners are comfortable discussing.
Support and extension
For support, give starters such as My parents are from… or We usually…. For an extension, combine selected answers into a short family profile. Assess sentence completeness and meaning rather than matching the examples. Do not require learners to compare affection for parents or disclose private relationships.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
