Before the lesson
Give groups the board, die and counters; keep model questions for reference.
- Demonstrate two different how-often questions so the repeated squares do not lead to repeated language.
- Players ask a new question and nominate another player to answer, using the words in their square at the beginning.
- Use how many, how much and how long examples to compare count, amount and duration after play.
Support and extension
Permit different tenses when the question is grammatical. Less confident groups may plan silently before asking; confident groups can add one natural follow-up.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
