Roll and Make a Question - Topics
A freer A2 question game uses 28 topics instead of sentence fragments. Home, hobbies, holidays, skills and plans let learners choose both the question words and the structure; a teacher page offers examples.
What’s in the worksheet?
- 28 task squares on a printable route
- Suggested questions; other grammatical questions may be valid
Create an original question that genuinely relates to a topic.

Before the lesson
Use page 1 as the board and keep page 2 as a source of examples, not a script for players.
- Model a holiday question and ask for a different question on the same topic to establish the freedom of the task.
- On each turn, a player asks a complete question and another player answers; reject repeated questions rather than repeated topics.
- Collect the different ways groups approached friends, transport or future plans and compare their question openings.
Support and extension
Offer a question-word bank if needed. Learners can move between tenses where the topic permits; this is intentionally less guided than ESL-1003.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
