Aliens
A B2 discussion-writing worksheet with eight prompts about aliens. Students develop opinions with reasons, examples or personal experience, then compare their work with page 2 model responses.
What’s in the worksheet?
- 8 discussion-writing prompts about aliens
- Reasons, examples and personal experience
- Developed B2 model responses on page 2
Write developed B2 responses to eight speculative questions about alien life, films and communication. Page 2 offers possible answers that demonstrate support for an idea, not evidence that fictional situations or claims are true.

Before the lesson
Review universe, evidence and sceptical. Establish the difference between a film scenario, an opinion and a factual claim. Learners do not need scientific expertise or a favourite alien film to take part.
- Read a model and identify the opinion, supporting reason and uncertainty language such as might or could.
- Choose prompts and write developed responses. Keep invasion scenarios clearly hypothetical and encourage careful wording when discussing government or UFO claims.
- Review whether each response has a clear idea and relevant support. As an optional finish, explain a proposed way humans and aliens could communicate.
Support and extension
For support, provide I think it is possible… because… and a short planning frame. For an extension, add an alternative explanation or a limitation to an idea. Assess coherence and use of speculation, not agreement about extraterrestrial life. Do not present unverified claims as facts or the model answers as scientific conclusions.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
