A simple way to teach it
Before the lesson
Select the needed pages: a-f, g-l, m-r, s-x, then y-z. Model where each letter sits on the guide lines; no printed stroke arrows are supplied.
- Identify the lowercase and capital forms in a selected row and trace its three pairs.
- Write your own pairs in the remaining space on the same lines, using the model as a guide.
- Compare size, height and spacing with the dotted pairs, then revisit a letter that needs more practice.
Support and extension
Use one or two rows at a time and allow a larger model or finger tracing for support. Extend by copying letters from a name on separate paper. This is handwriting and recognition practice, not a spelling test or a full sound-letter course.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
