Before the lesson
Review ever, occasionally and hypothetical would forms. Allow fictional examples and make emotionally personal responses optional.
- Answer a low-pressure prompt such as a regretted purchase, adding when it happened and why the view changed.
- Develop selected reflections with a clear idea and support, distinguishing habits from an imagined second chance at life.
- Use page 2's possible answers to revise a vague response with a concrete example or a qualification.
Support and extension
For support, use Sometimes... especially when.... Extend by contrasting something a character can control with something uncertain. Avoid turning the lesson into counselling or requiring confession; the aim is coherent writing, not agreement with the models' outlook.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
