Before the lesson
Choose the two neighbouring level pages most relevant to your learner rather than reading the whole guide during an interview.
- Collect a short spoken and written sample before consulting the descriptions in detail.
- Look for repeated evidence across skills, noting where a learner performs differently in comprehension and production.
- Use the next-step explanations to plan a second task when the first sample does not clearly distinguish adjacent levels.
Support and extension
This is a planning reference, not certification. At higher levels, gather several samples and seek another teacher's view when practical; grammar scores alone are insufficient.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
