Before the lesson
Separate an association or stereotype from a verified fact. Learners need not have visited France, and no one should be asked to represent all French people.
- List familiar associations, then choose one to explain with a specific example and a qualification.
- Write about a notable person or a possible visit, stating what you know and what interests you.
- Read page 2's models and revise the Paris or stereotype answer so a personal impression is not presented as everyone's experience.
Support and extension
Offer France is often associated with... but... for support. Extend by contrasting a famous tourist image with regional variety. The model references are starting points, not a researched history lesson; acknowledge uncertainty instead of inventing biographical details.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
