Before the lesson
Review have in common, lend and get along if useful. Model We have known each other for… and We first met…. Allow a fictional friend, an acquaintance or skipped questions, especially those about arguments, money and family priorities.
- Rehearse a neutral description of a friend and one shared interest. Show how singular they can refer to that person.
- Write selected answers, distinguishing the length of the friendship from the past event of meeting. Add reasons to opinion questions where suitable.
- Compare with page 2 and revise sentence patterns. Optional sharing can focus on common interests rather than private events or identifying details.
Support and extension
For support, provide They are interested in… and We both… starters. For an extension, join selected answers into a short profile. Accept meaningful alternatives rather than copying the models. The lending question is an opinion-writing prompt, not financial advice, and learners do not need to choose between real friends and family.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
