Before the lesson
Check suitability for the class and offer another topic if needed. Clarify game of chance and proportion; personal gambling experience is not required.
- Answer experience prompts hypothetically or explain why you do not take part. Add a reason rather than a bare yes/no.
- Develop a response about motives or casinos, separating a possible benefit from a possible cost.
- Study page 2's possible answers and revise the national-proportion answer to distinguish an estimate from a known statistic.
Support and extension
Use I do not know the figure, but... for support. An optional extension is identifying where a claim would need evidence. Do not organise betting, diagnose a learner, or present the models as treatment advice. Keep personal and financial information private.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
