Before the lesson
Review injury, symptom and treatment as distinct terms, plus habit and routine. Allow general or imaginary discussion answers. Do not require learners to disclose diagnoses, weight, food intake or personal stress experiences.
- Read the bank and attempt the gaps, using sentence meaning and word type to choose an entry.
- Compare with a partner and check page 2. Focus on combinations such as balanced diet, immune system and recover after an illness rather than diagnosing any situation.
- Discuss suitable printed prompts about habits and busy lives. Use general examples, and make the advice question a language exchange rather than a personal fitness prescription.
Support and extension
For support, give short definitions and group nouns, verbs and adjectives. For an extension, write an invented character's routine using selected words. Gap answers follow the once-only bank; discussion varies. Avoid assessing learners' lifestyles or presenting model sentences as medical advice, dietary rules or complete exercise recommendations.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
