Before the lesson
Review singer, group, instrument, stream and taste in music. No audio playback or account access is required. Accept learners who rarely listen to music, have no favourite artist or have not attended a concert.
- Model a favourite type of music with a reason and rehearse a response about playing an instrument.
- Write answers, checking the distinction between usually listen, liked at school and have been to concerts. Support learners with the experience forms as needed.
- Compare structures with page 2 and revise. As an optional finish, share one musician recommendation and explain the choice.
Support and extension
For support, provide genre and instrument words plus I can / cannot… starters. For an extension, combine several responses into a music profile. Assess complete sentences rather than matching the named artists in the models. Learners can describe another familiar person's tastes instead of discussing their parents.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
