Before the lesson
Review When was the last time...? and past-simple time expressions. Explain that recent means different things for different experiences; fictional events are acceptable.
- Choose a straightforward event and note when it happened, what happened and how you responded.
- Write the remaining accounts, adding sequence or background where useful rather than repeating the same sentence pattern.
- Use page 2's possible answers to check concrete detail and revise one short answer into a coherent account.
Support and extension
Offer Last... when... so... as a scaffold. Extend with an optional past-perfect sentence for an earlier event, without forcing that tense everywhere. Illness, anger and fear can remain fictional; this is language practice, not a requirement to disclose private incidents.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
