A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Agree on respectful discussion and the right not to disclose personal beliefs. Clarify tradition, community and influence without equating influence with superiority.

  1. Explain a concept or a reason people may hold beliefs, acknowledging variation within communities.
  2. Develop a response about respectful disagreement or beliefs after death using language that attributes ideas to people or traditions.
  3. Compare with page 2's models and revise a claim about global influence or the distant future to distinguish evidence from speculation.

Support and extension

Support with Some people believe... while others.... Extend by explaining how a tradition could influence everyday customs. Avoid rankings of believers or demands to defend a faith; the models are possible responses, not a comparative-religion reference or fixed answers.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
