Before the lesson
Check the suitability of the alcohol-and-tobacco prompt. Adults can reflect on their teens; current teenagers can describe their present experience instead of pretending to look back.
- Write a reflection or present-day account with a specific example of enjoyment or difficulty.
- Develop advice and role-model answers, explaining why the suggestion or quality matters.
- Use page 2's possible responses to improve the generational comparison, qualifying claims rather than judging all teenagers alike.
Support and extension
Support with At that age... and I would advise.... Extend by considering how expectations change between adolescence and adulthood. No learner must discuss substance use, family pressure or distress; the models are opinions, not current age-limit information.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
