A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Review plan versus prediction and will, might and would. No knowledge of a particular film is required; a learner can explain that they do not have a suitable example.

  1. Develop a personal long-term plan and distinguish it from a prediction about wider changes.
  2. Write about a desired invention or a fictional future, explaining its appeal or possible consequences.
  3. Compare with page 2's models and revise a prediction so the reason and level of certainty are clear.

Support and extension

Support with I expect... because... and It might.... Extend by comparing an optimistic prediction with a possible limitation. The time-machine and national-change models are discussion examples, not scientific proof or current forecasts; personal worries may remain general.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
