A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Review journey duration, driving licence and public-transport pass. Model It takes about… for travel time. Non-drivers can use appropriate negative answers or imagined situations; learners need not disclose tickets or other private incidents.

  1. Rehearse how learners reach work, school or another familiar destination, then write the method and time taken.
  2. Complete selected prompts about transport experiences and preferences. Distinguish a general have ever question from details about a particular past journey.
  3. Compare patterns with the models and revise. Finish with an optional exchange of opinions on public-transport passes, adding a reason rather than copying the model view.

Support and extension

For support, offer I take…, It takes… and I have never… starters. For an extension, combine related responses into a journey account. There is no fixed personal-answer key; accept different local transport options and reasoned opinions. Keep driving-related discussion general, not a substitute for local regulations or practical instruction.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
