Before the lesson
Prepare the text, six questions and suggested answers. Review steady stream, campaigned, compromise and undermine. Advanced answers need evidence, not just opinions about tourism.
- Identify the app's promise and the changes it produces. Separate residents' concern about photographs from an objection to all public walking.
- Answer the questions about removing the route and the three-part compromise: retain access, change the description and offer alternatives. Explain why the original quiet does not fully return.
- Compare text-supported interpretations with the key, then discuss distributing visitors without excluding them.
Support and extension
Support by mapping residents', businesses' and the company's interests. Extend with a revised route description that avoids presenting residents' homes as attractions.
