Before the lesson
Give each group a board, one die and one counter per player.
- Demonstrate a turn with eat and an original past sentence, including what happened and when.
- Players check each sentence before the counter stays; ask a teacher to resolve uncertain forms rather than vote on a guess.
- Pause after play to contrast a few regular endings with chose, brought, swam or other forms heard in the game.
Support and extension
Use real or imagined events. Stronger groups add a follow-up question, but a new accurate sentence remains the requirement for each turn.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
