Before the lesson
Review scarf, pocket, ribbon and recognise. Keep the page 3 key separate until learners have attempted their answers.
- Read for the problem and solution, noting why two similar bags could be confused.
- Reread and write six complete answers, locating the card in the pocket and the meeting outside the bus station.
- Check the key and explain the yellow ribbon's purpose, then discuss ways to recognise a bag.
Support and extension
Support with a sequence of bus journey, discovery, phone call, exchange and ribbon. Extend by using instead and to to explain contrast and purpose. Accept equivalent text-supported answers; the partner questions have no fixed key and can be answered hypothetically.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
