A simple way to teach it
Before the lesson
Use a new board per group, plus one die and a counter for each player.
- Model sent in a sentence about a message, then ask another learner for a different past event.
- Let the group play without a visible verb list so retrieval remains part of the task.
- Afterwards, compare two irregular families that caused hesitation and have players reformulate the affected sentences.
Support and extension
This board can follow ESL-0997 without reusing its verb squares. For extra speaking, require a short follow-up only after the original sentence is accepted.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
