Before the lesson
Print the single page. Review patterns, dressing up and uniform if needed. No clothing photos are required, and learners should discuss their own preferences without judging classmates' appearance.
- Start with comfortable clothes and how the weather affects choices. Encourage an example of an outfit or item suitable for a situation.
- Choose questions about repairing clothes, shopping online or uniforms. Ask partners to explain an advantage and a possible drawback.
- Use the winter-coat advice question or the clothing-design question to finish. Have learners describe useful features and explain who the item would suit.
Support and extension
For support, supply fit, warm, comfortable and practical as optional vocabulary. For an extension, discuss whether workplaces should have clothing rules and compare viewpoints respectfully. Answers are personal; check reasons and follow-ups, not knowledge of fashion brands.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
