Before the lesson
Print the single page. Review routine and leave until later if needed. Let learners describe a typical day without sharing an exact timetable or other private details.
- Start with the first morning activity and the most enjoyable part of the day. Encourage frequency words such as usually and sometimes.
- Pairs select questions about reminders, breaks or sudden changes to plans. Ask for an example of a habit that helps and why it works.
- Finish with the one-change-to-your-routine question. As an optional follow-up, ask learners to compare their priorities and suggest one manageable change.
Support and extension
For support, contrast weekday and weekend routines using short sentence starters. For an extension, compare routines now with those a few years ago, or discuss the task learners would delegate to a machine. Responses vary; avoid treating one person's schedule as the correct routine.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
