Before the lesson
Print the page and review flat, balcony and facilities if necessary. No addresses, photos or maps are required. Learners may describe a familiar or imagined area rather than their own home.
- Begin with what learners like about an area and places within walking distance. Model a specific example and a reason.
- Pairs choose questions about shared space, neighbours or changes over time. Encourage a follow-up about how a feature affects everyday life.
- Finish with an improvement to a neighbourhood or the ideal-room question. Ask learners to prioritise one feature and justify it.
Support and extension
For support, offer There is… nearby and I'd prefer… because… . For an extension, compare more space with a better location in question 12 and negotiate a choice. The sheet has no answer key; respect different living circumstances and assess the clarity of the explanation.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
