A simple way to teach it

Before the lesson

Review forecast, light rain and unpredictable. Invite examples from any place learners know; the discussion does not require four distinct local seasons. Choose prompts that avoid uncomfortable memories of severe weather.

  1. Compare favourite weather and seasons with reasons. Model the difference between describing usual weather and saying what you like doing in it.
  2. Discuss selected prompts about clothing, changed plans and seasonal food. Encourage partners to ask for one concrete example after an opinion.
  3. Finish with question 19: explain what to pack for a trip with unpredictable weather. As an optional extension, pairs compare their lists and agree on the most useful items.

Support and extension

For support, provide weather words and If it rains… sentence starters. For an extension, use question 14 to recommend a season for visiting the area and explain a possible drawback. Answers vary; check understandable explanations and appropriate time reference rather than expecting one correct climate or preference.

Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
