Before the lesson
Print the one-page question sheet and select a manageable group of prompts. Review look forward to, household tasks and day trip. Model a usual weekend answer and a last-weekend answer to establish the change in time reference.
- Begin with questions 1–5. Ask learners to add a reason or detail rather than answering with a single word.
- Pairs choose further prompts about inexpensive activities, rainy days and shared plans. Encourage follow-ups such as Who with? or Why would you choose that?
- Use question 20 to finish: partners explain what they would plan for a visiting friend. As an optional extension, agree on a simple itinerary and explain the choices.
Support and extension
For support, supply activity vocabulary and starters such as I usually… and Last weekend I…. For an extension, compare two possible plans within a fixed budget. Learners may imagine a weekend rather than describe their private lives. There is no fixed answer key; assess relevance, reasons and interaction.
Suggested approach. Adjust the pace and number of questions to suit your class.
